بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In The Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Sura An-Nur, Chapter 24 Revealed in Medina , It has 64 verses in 9 sections

Surah Noor contains 64 verses and it has been sent down in Medina. The reason why it has been named An-Nur (light), is its thirty fifth verse in which Allah has been introduced as:

“the Light of the heavens and the earth”.

Benefits of Surah Noor : There are many benefits , few are given below

To safeguard the purity and chastity of your children recite this surah regularly; and this recitation would keep the women folk of your house safe from waywardness; and by recitation of this surah everyday regularly no one from among the family would get into trouble till death; and after his death seventy thousand angels would accompany his body upto the grave, and pray for his salvation.

Our Beloved Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said if anyone constantly recites Surah Noor will never, in his lifetime, see any evil from his near ones and when he dies, seventy thousand angels will accompany his body up to the grave and will pray for his forgiveness.

Those who recites this surah his recompense would be ten times more than the believing men and believing women.

If you writes this Surah Nur on paper and keeps it under the pillow, he would not see sensual dreams.

If recited, it prevents wet dreams

Recite Ayah 35 for eyes (as eyedrops)

Recite this Surah for forgiveness

It is beneficial for women

The Quran is the holy book which Muslims recite and turn to for guidance in all aspects of their lives. Its verses have remained intact since their original revelation by God in the 7th century.

The Quran is the last testament in a series of divine revelations from God (Allah in Arabic). It consists of the unaltered and direct words of God, which were revealed through the Angel Gabriel to Muhammad, the final prophet of Islam, more than 1400 years ago.

Islam is a continuation of the message received by previous prophets, such as Noah, Abraham, David, Moses and Jesus, peace be upon them all. Therefore, the Quran maintains the pure teachings of previous revelations, including the Torah and the Gospel. The Quran describes that all the prophets taught people to believe in the One God, the Creator. The messengers also instructed them to spend their lives with God-consciousness, doing good deeds and avoiding sins. Moreover, they warned their fellow humans of accountability in the afterlife, a subject which the Quran returns to again and again.

Since its revelation, the Quran (also spelled ‘Koran’) has remained preserved in its exact, primary text. While numerous translations of the Quran exist, they are all based on the single, original Arabic script, making the Quran unique from previous scriptures in its pure authenticity.

Sheikh al-ʿAfāsī studied at the College of the Quran and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah, and specialized in the ten readings and translations of the Quran. He has been certified by a number of scholars of Quran and recited before several renowned Qaris.They include Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat, Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei and Sheikh Abdurarea Radwan.

On March 24, 2007 Sheikh Mishary traveled to the United States of America and visited three mosques: Islamic Center of Irvine in California, Islamic Institute of Orange County in California, and the ICD (Islamic Center of Detroit) in Michigan. The audio tapes of his recitations during his visit to America can be found on his website, and also on YouTube or MukminTV.

On October 25, 2008, Sheikh Mishary was awarded the first Arab Creativity Oscar by the Arab Creativity Union in Egypt.[3] The event was sponsored by the General Secretary of the League of Arab States Mr. Amr Mousa as a recognition of Sheikh Mishary Alafasy role in promoting Islamic principles and teachings utilizing the modern technology to deliver the peaceful message of Islam. On September 2009, Sheikh Mishary traveled to the ICOI or Islamic Center of Irvine, but had to leave early due to family emergency.

There are two satellite channels for Sheikh Meshary, The first is Alafasy TV and another more recent channel. During the month of Ramadan, in 2010, Al-Afasy returned to the ICOI to lead the taraweeh prayer.

Mishary Al Afasy is now the Imam of Masjid Al-Kabir (Great Mosque) in Kuwait City and leads the Taraweeh prayers of Ramadan in the same Mosque. Link to MP3 Files:
